As part of the Fabbrica Design residency

This series of bowls explores the meeting point between Orezza stone and stoneware. Created in collaboration with potter Antoine Campana, these grogged clay pieces are the result of a research process focused on integrating crushed stone fragments into ceramics.

The project began with a phase of laboratory experimentation using discarded stone extraction offcuts, known as extraction “crusts.” Working alongside geologist Elisabeth Pereira and Tanguy Martinez, we carried out a series of tests involving fragmentation, crushing, and polishing processes.

The research then continued in Antoine’s workshop, where Vert d’Orezza stone was blended into the stoneware in granular form. Fired at high temperatures, around 1280°C, the stone vitrifies and reveals new tonal variations. Combined with glazes, it produces sometimes unpredictable surface effects: speckled textures, mineral roughness, and subtly pearlescent reflections.
