With the association L'Envol

In Béthune, in northern France, the association L’Envol has turned a former supermarket into a third place dedicated to creation. Focused on social change through the arts, it supports around fifteen young people in a reintegration program built around theater, dance, and singing. The Dans le Mille project grew out of a series of on-site immersions, experiments, and prototyped proposals, with the aim of designing a tool that closely responds to the needs of the local context.

Dans le Mille is a participatory tool designed to explore new ways of involving local residents in shaping the program of a community space. Created in collaboration with L’Envol Association, it highlights the key questions shaping the project’s future.

The installation consists of two targets, each representing a different proposal. Participants are invited to aim for the center of the target of their choice. This gesture, both tangible and symbolic, requires precision and focus. It expresses a stance and a point of view.

The device is adaptable and evolving: it changes based on participants’ feedback, incorporates new contributions, and reflects the ongoing discussions within the association.
All inputs are collected and displayed to feed the collective reflection on the space’s programming.

This project is part of broader research exploring play as a tool for mediation, dialogue, and collective decision-making.
