With the association L'Envol

In Béthune, in northern France, the association L’Envol has transformed an old supermarket into a space for art and social reintegration. It encourages local residents to take part in collaborative initiatives and daily decisions.

One of these projects is called Faire peser la balance. It invites everyone to answer a simple question : yes or no, for or against, by placing a token on one side. Each vote tips the balance and reveals the group’s collective choice. One day, people voted on the meal of the day: sausage with mashed potatoes instead of beef stew.

This playful tool invites reflection on how decisions are made collectively. The balance shows new ways for everyone to take part in the life of the community space.
